MY NAME WAS RICKY
Well, he wouldn't have been my first pick, but since Joey Bosa was picked by San Diego just before Dallas I think Ezekiel Elliott was the next best pick available for Dallas. Given their recent problems with their defensive line, I thought Joey Bosa would have been Dallas' best pick. But he was gone. Elliott will be a great addition to the Dallas backfield with Darren McFadden and the recently acquired Alfred Morris. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see either of those 2 traded to acquire an experienced quarterback.
I still don't think that Dallas will get the quarterback they need to back up Tony Romo through the draft. I think they're going have to get an experienced guy through a trade or through free agency. Having said that, I think they still need to draft a quarterback for the long term plan. Too bad Paxton Lynch got scooped by Denver. He would have been a sweet pick.
Now with the third pick in the second round it will be interesting to see what Dallas does. D-Line, help in the defensive secondary or a quarterback? I'm hoping for some help in the secondary. It just seems that the secondary always seems to be their Achilles heal on defense for some reason. And, with some guys coming off of injury, I think this is going to be their highest need at this point. But in the end, it will depend on who is available come their next pick.
I'll be brief and short. The Toronto Raptors are my favorite basketball team in the NBA. But, they are NOT a championship calibre team.
Game 5 of their series against the Pacers was just another example of why they will not win an NBA championship ... never mind the Eastern conference. Come out flat for 3 quarters and are frankly, LUCKY, to pull it out in the fourth. At the start of the fourth quarter I turned to my son and said "they need a miracle. Indiana is gonna have to score no more than 10 points for Toronto to win". Little did I know that I was such a prophet. Needless to say I never expected that to happen ... but it did. I was ecstatic of course. I'd be lying to say that I wasn't. But after the ecstasy was over I came down to earth and the realization that Paul Pierce may have been right last season when he said that the Raptors just don't have "IT". Yes the raptors defense clamped down in the fourth. But Indiana scored only 9 points! 9 freakin' points!! The Raps were lucky to escape with the victory.
They have played too inconsistently to go deep into the playoffs. Their stars have yet to shine - Demar did show up in Game 5 thank goodness. Their bench has been steady and it is because of their bench and Jonas that they are still in this thing. I expect them to take this series. I'll be really disappointed if they don't. But I think that will be the end of the road for them. I really do ... unless they can get it together, play four full quarters, the stars align and shine, and they come out and play they way that they are capable of playing for an entire game. They need to show the intensity they showed in that fourth quarter. Everyone needs to show up and play ball! THEY NEED TO GET IT!
I hope I'm wrong. No one would be happier than me. Well, I guess the players will be happier. The coaching staff. The organization. Their families. Ok ... so there will be some happier than me. But I'd be really happy if I'm wrong. And, if I'm right, the last thing I want to hear is what a successful season they had. That they set new franchise records. They won a first round playoff series against a seven seed. Sorry ... but that's not a championship. In my mind, anything short of winning the Eastern conference would be a failure.
LET'S GO RAPTORS!
Just a quick post today. Got to get ready for Game 2 of the Raptors and Pacers. Please, please, please Raptors win

Well, It's been over a week that the final edpisode of Season 6 of The Walking Dead aired. My son is a huge fan of the show as well as the comics and he got me interested in The Walking Dead a few seasons ago. I've been watching ever since. I find the show compelling, suspenseful and I especially find myself hugely invested in the main characters. We couldn't wait for the final episode as we were both anticipating the long arrival of Negan.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm an Apple fan. I love their products and I really love my 2007 desktop iMac. It was the first of the aluminum line that Apple started way back then. I can just sit there and stare at it. Guess I'm weired that way.
Having said that, Apple is not known for it's great documentation. They deliver new features in each software update but don't come right out and tell you how to use or access those features.
With the NFL draft fast approaching I've been wondering about what the heck my beloved Dallas Cowboys are going to do come draft day. With Tony Romo's injury/injuries last year it was apparent that they need a strong backup quarterback. I was hopeful that they might be able to pick someone up through free agency or a trade but that doesn't look like that's going to happen. So it looks as though the Cowboys may resort to the draft.
Personally though, in the first round with the fourth overall pick, I would grab the best available player. They could bolster up the defensive line with Joey Bosa. He was a stud at Ohio State and I think he'd make a great addition to the D-Line.
